Am I A Bike?
No, but now I have one! After months of pining I finally bit the bullet today and went out and got me a mountain bike :)
The local bike store has had a sale on for a few weeks now, and Phil and I have popped in a couple of times to see what they have on offer, but never actually bought anything.
So today I walked into town (with the intention of buying some white wine vinegar) and drop by the bike shop again. They had a bike I liked so I got it.
The bike I settled on was a Marlin Northside Trail which was in their sale.
Pricewise, the bike was orginally £380, but I got it for £320. I also got a fat arse seat for it (although I have my own padding its not quite as efficent at protecting your butt when you only have a tiny amount of surface area to balance on), which was originally £35 and suspension rod for the seat (originally £20) and a bike lock (originally £15) all for £45 instead of £70. The chap in the shop also fitted my new accessories for nothing!
It just goes to show that you usually get better service in a locally owned shop that a national one, and they give more discounts - now thats the kind of service I like.
